Fr. Médaille Awards for Service & Citizenship Submission Guidelines

To nominate a non-profit organization or an individual volunteer with an exceptional commitment to service and dedication in making a difference in the Buffalo Niagara region, please follow the submission guidelines below.

Submission Requirements:

  • Nominators may submit more than one nomination, but must submit separate applications.
  • Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013.

Award Process:

  • Nominees for whom completed applications have been received will be notified of their nomination. Nominees will be required to submit a brief essay explaining how the award would impact their organization and how the funds provided would be put to use.
  • A selection committee will review all completed applications and select award winners.
  • Award recipients will be notified in February 2014. 
  • Award recipients will be invited as complimentary guests and recognized at the Founders’ Day Celebration dinner held at Shea’s Buffalo on April 9, 2014.

Individual Nominee Information

Nominees should exemplify Fr. Medaille's spirit of serving others. Nominations should address the following questions:

  • What evidence is there of the nominee's dedication to community service beyond his/her professional responsibilities?
  • Has a portion of the nominee's community service been rendered on a volunteer (i.e. unpaid) basis? Please provide specific examples.
  • Were the efforts undertaken by the nominee considered "above and beyond" those provided by the average community member?
  • Were the services provided beneficial to the Western New York community?

Organization Nominee Information

Nominees should exemplify a commitment to serving those in the Buffalo Niagara region through their work, and their efforts in making the region a better place for all those who live here. Please include examples of service to the community along with information on any organizational collaboration.

I'm grateful for the education I've received.

The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
