Visual and Digital Arts

For me, the Visual and Digital Arts program is a wonderful opportunity to build a portfolio and skill set that I can adapt to any job I take.
- Rick Carls, Allegany, NY
The Visual and Digital Arts program is currently on hiatus, and not accepting incoming first-year or transfer students as of Fall 2008.
As technology advances, the traditional artistic tools of paper, pencils, and paint have made room for imaging software, 3-D modeling programs and the latest in interactive digital communications.
With its committed faculty and cutting-edge multimedia studio, the Visual and Digital Arts program gives students access to the tools and concepts necessary to develop marketable digital design and communication skills. And by learning a variety of traditional art studio and multimedia techniques, students can choose wisely and explore the depths of the creative process to achieve meaningful self-expression as exhibiting artists.
After completing a Junior Year portfolio review, each Visual and Digital Arts major shares his or her talent for representing the world around them during a senior year exhibition in a traditional gallery format. The creation of a digital portfolio gives potential employers in the academic, business, and entertainment worlds a sense of their vision and skills.
With a degree in Visual and Digital Arts, you will be prepared for a career in graphic design, multimedia production, web communications, and the fine arts, as well as having a solid foundation for graduate study. Core courses within the major, taught by practicing artists, will provide knowledge of a wide array of topics and media, including:
