Blue Vertical DividerMMS 200 FUNDAMENTALS OF MULTIMEDIA
An introductory look at multimedia using photographs, video, sound and animation. This course will show what the computer is capable of and how the student can create basic multimedia presentations in just a short amount of time. Assignments will be given using pre-constructed modules that will be followed step-by-step. These modules will provide the students with the necessary skills to compile a multimedia presentation using sound, video, still images and text. Students will create several QuickTime movies. Four credit hours. Prerequisite: CIS 115 or basic computer skills. Offered Fall semester (d).

MMS 205 DESIGNING MULTIMEDIA
This course takes a critical look at the various components in multi-media. Students will be able to recognize effective elements and be able to critique each component that makes a multimedia presentation successful. Four credit hours. Prerequisite:
CIS 115 or basic computer skills. Offered as needed.

MMS 300 INCORPORATING INTERACTIVITY IN MULTIMEDIA
This course will provide the students with the necessary skills to create interactivity in their multimedia presentations. This course uses Macromedia Director's scripting language which adds interactivity to multimedia productions. Students will create movies that users may explore and travel through in the order that suits them best; allow them to communicate with users by receiving and sending information; use a combination of animation and sound to navigate through a presentation; script commands that allow for precise control over text, sound, images, and digital video. Four credit hours. Prerequisite: MMS 200. Offered as needed.

MMS 305 INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
This course will prepare students for the development and designing of an interactive multimedia production team. Students will develop an interactive media production guide by discussing the fundamentals of planning, designing, and developing an interactive media project--from conceptualization to production to distribution. This course does not implement a project, only develops a production process guideline for the students to test during their portfolio project at the end of the certificate program. Four credit hours. Prerequisite:
MMS 200. Offered as needed.

MMS 400 INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA FOR THE WORLD WIDE WEB
This course will provide students with the necessary skills to create interactive multimedia home pages for the World Wide Web using Macromedia Director's Shockwave, VRML, JAVA scripting language, and HTML. Students will create, test, and publish a home page that demonstrates their ability to produce and troubleshoot video, audio and 3-D animation on the Internet. Four credit hours. Prerequisite: MMS 300. Offered as needed.

MMS 405 MULTIMEDIA FROM SCRATCH: A DIGITAL PORTFOLIO
Students will design a fully interactive multimedia CD-ROM. Students will use the skills and knowledge they have learned regarding pre-production, production and post production to formulate and arrange an idea. Students will use a variety of rendering techniques: create 3-D models; create animation using graphics and still images; discuss aesthetic issues regarding layout and design of three-dimensional design; incorporate original text, credits and material. Author a multimedia presentation using the most appropriate authoring software package. Four credit hours. Prerequisite:
MMS 300. Offered as needed.
