Admissions Office
Potential students receive pre-college counseling regarding Medaille's academic programs and the admissions requirements for these programs.

Bookstore
The Bookstore operates for the convenience of Medaille's students and faculty. Instructors ensure that all books required for their courses are sold at the Bookstore. Be sure of your courses when you buy your books. Be prepared to pay with cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express or Financial Aid Voucher (with a current Medaille College ID card). Save your receipt! School supplies and Medaille College clothing and souvenir items are also offered for sale in the Bookstore.

Business Office
The Business Office maintains the student billing records for the College. Students must visit the Business Office to complete their registration by making payment arrangements prior to the start of each semester. Questions concerning your student bill or payment arrangements should be directed to the Business Office.

Campus Center
The programs and services offered through the Kevin I. Sullivan Campus Center are a vital part of the educational experience at Medaille. The facility serves as a focal point for college community life and a training ground for students in assuming social responsibility and leadership. The cultural, social, and recreational programs are intended to make free-time activity a cooperative venture with classroom learning.

The Center houses a regulation NCAA basketball court, volleyball courts, jogging track, weight and exercise room, locker rooms, training room, food service area/multi-purpose room, bookstore, student lounges, student club and organization area, and a private dining room. It also houses the Office of Student Affairs, including Vice President for Students Affairs/Dean of Students, Residence Life, Career Planning and Placement, New Student Orientation, Multicultural Affairs, Student Activities and Recreation, Intercollegiate Athletics, and Health Center.

The Campus Center program serves students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests in developing well-rounded individuals working together to enhance the educational opportunities provided through the College.

Career Planning and Placement
Take advantage of the personal counseling and career planning and placement services provided by the College. These services are offered to all Medaille students. Many of these services remain available to you once you have graduated, too.

  • Career Planning and Placement
    If you would like to discuss your choice of a major program of study, learn about the kinds of jobs available in your field, or discuss your job search, stop in and make an appointment with the Director of Career Planning and Placement.
  • Career Library
    The Career Library includes career and occupational information, employer directories, and career planning guides. Books can be borrowed for up to two weeks with a student ID.
  • Group Workshops
    Free workshops are offered to all Medaille students. They are scheduled several times every semester for the convenience of day and evening students. The workshops offer help in the following areas: handling test anxiety, understanding time management, writing cover letters, writing resumes, interviewing, and learning more about yourself through interest inventories. Times, dates, and locations are publicized throughout the College. In-class workshops are frequently conducted.
  • Interest Inventories
    If you wish to explore your career options by learning more about yourself, you can take an interest inventory and discuss the results with the Director of Career Planning and Placement.
  • Job Listings, Full-Time and Part-Time
    Job listings are available to all students and alumni. Notices of part-time and full-time job openings that do not require college degrees are posted on the bulletin board near the career office. Seniors and alumni who are registered with the office receive mailed notices of job openings in their career fields.
  • Placement Folders
    Students may establish placement folders containing references and field placement evaluations. These folders are kept on file and mailed to potential employers upon request.

Computer Center
The Academic Computer Center (ACC) is located on the second floor of Huber Hall and consists of a 30-workstation open lab, a 30-workstation classroom and a 20-workstation classroom. The open lab is filled with Pentium 4 1.5 GHz PCs with 256 MB RAM, DVD players, Zip-250 drives, sound cards and optical scroll mice. The larger classroom contains Pentium III 800 MHz PCs and the smaller classroom contains Pentium III 450 MHz PCs, each with 128 MB of RAM, CD player, Zip drive, and sound card. All ACC computers run Microsoft Windows 2000 Pro and are networked via fiber optic backbone accessing the Internet throught a T1 line.

For enhanced presentations and visual demostrations, both classrooms are equipped with interactive, touch-sensitive Smart Boards.

The ACC runs Microsoft Office Pro 2000 and MS Visual Studio 6, along with other course-specific software applications and standard utility applications.

Financial Aid Office
All students are urged to visit the Financial Aid Office to learn about the types of aid available. If you have any questions regarding Pell, TAP (Tuition Assistance Program), FSEOG (Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant), or FCWSP (College Work-Study Program), please visit the Financial Aid Office. You may inquire about other types of scholarships and loans available.

Food Service
T
he Cafeteria in the Kevin I. Sullivan Campus Center serves breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Friday, brunch on Saturday and lunch and dinner on Sunday. Come for a meal or a snack or just to hang out! Catering service is available.

Information Office
Can't remember where the Registrar is? Lose your car keys? Want to leave a note for your instructor? The Information Office can help you with these things and many more. If they can't answer your questions, you'll be directed to someone who can. It's a combination mailroom, switchboard, and lost and found. Facsimile services are also available at a reasonable charge.

Library
Your college days would not be complete without frequent visits to the automated Medaille College Library for that "special" help so necessary for the completion of successful college assignments.

Whether it be research needs, a quiet place to read, or locating instructor reserve information or materials, the Medaille library staff is always there to help. Library services are electronically accessible through Medaille's Home Page on the Internet (http://www.medaille.edu).

A validated college ID card is necessary to take books out of the library, so please remember to carry it with you.

Multicultural Affairs Office
The Multicultural Affairs Office promotes diversity on campus and provides a variety of services including informal counseling, advisement, and general assistance in making college a successful experience. A variety of programs are sponsored by this office including ethnic heritage months, gender issues, and the annual celebration of African History Month in February.

Multimedia Studio-New Media Institute (NMI)
The Multimedia Studio, also known as the New Media Institute (NMI), is dedicated to teaching and training students in the trends of multimedia technologies. This includes the necessary skills to use the hardware and the software to create interactive CD-ROMs, designing World Wide Web pages, creating professional presentations, and compiling digital portfolios.

The Multimedia Studio uses 10 G4 PowerPC Macintoshes with 256 MB of RAM, 6 gigabytes of hard drive space, CD-ROM, ViewSonic 17" 32-bit color monitors with high end internal speakers, audiovisual capabilities, two flat bed scanners, Nikon film scanner, black and white laser printer, digital video camera, digital still cameras, recordable 24x CD-ROM burner, 100/250 zip drives, and T1 fast Internet access. This facility also provides all the updated software to create video presentations, computer animation, 3-D rendering, image and sound manipulation, web pages and graphic design.

Registrar's Office
The Registrar's Office maintains the academic records of all students who have enrolled at Medaille. You should visit the Registrar's Office if you wish to drop or add a course, withdraw from a course, register for a pass/fail, file a change of major and/or degree status, inquire about graduation status, or have transcripts evaluated in preparation for admission to a specific program. The Registrar's Office also can tell you who your advisor is and when the next registration period will occur.

Special Academic Services Office
The Special Academic Services Office coordinates academic support services that assist all students with many transitions that occur during a college career. Student success is a special focus of this office as the Assistant Dean for Special Academic Services is a liaison for students and is able to answer questions or address concerns or complaints that students may have. Both day and evening hours are available.

  • Academic Advisement Center
    Advisement counselors are available during both day and evening hours on weekdays to provide a wide variety of academic advisement services. If you require assistance with advisement, need to obtain college forms, or have any questions, please stop at the Advisement Center. If services are unable to be rendered at the Center, appropriate referrals will be made. The Advisement Center is located in the lower level of the Main Building.
  • Academic Skills Center
    The Academic Skills Center offers a full range of learning services. Both peer and professional tutoring in a variety of disciplines are available at scheduled times and upon request. Computers with Internet access, study skills workshops, audio/visual resources, reference materials and space for study sessions are all provided in the Center.
  • Counseling Office
    The Counseling Offices within Medaille College's Special Academic Services' is committed to enhancing the academic experience of the student through specific counseling services as part of the campus climate that is committed to diversity, personal attention, and the development of the whole person. Staffed by a professional counselor, this office provides services to improve self-esteem, organize one's time and life better, cope with difficult experiences, overcome self-defeating behaviors, and minimize distractions to academic success. Specific services include limited personal counseling, group counseling, self-improvement workshops, self-help information, and referrals to outside professionals.
  • Disability Services Office
    The Disability Services Office endeavors to asist students with disabilities in all aspects of their college life. Student requesting services and/or accommodations must contact the Disability Services Office directly at (716) 884-3281, ext. 280.
TRIO Office
The TRIO Office, located in the Academic Skills Center, is a federally-funded student support services program established to assist eligible students in achieving their academic goals through tutoring, academic and career counseling, and participation in a variety of cultural activities. The relationship between TRIO and the general college environment is designed to maximize students' potential and growth during their college experience.

Student Affairs Office
The Office of Student Affairs is the center for student activities and provides a variety of services including processing of I.D.'s, locker rentals, and parking tags. You may also obtain information concerning off-campus housing, bus routes, and the master calendar of events. Student groups wishing to reserve space on campus should obtain a reservation form in Student Affairs. The office is open evenings to assist students in the module schedule and keep them updated on campus events and services. Stop in any time to ask questions regarding student life at Medaille.

Student Health Center
The Student Health Center is located on the second floor of the Kevin I. Sullivan Campus Center and is staffed by a Nurse-Director. The office coordinates health records, immunization, provides for health and wellness needs, first-aid, health insurance, and educational programming.

Student Residency and Housing
Medaille College requires campus residency for students under 21 years of age who do not live within commuting distance and for local students wishing to participate in the residential experience. The residence life program emphasizes a high-quality environment and is coordinated by professional staff located in the Kevin I. Sullivan Campus Center. Several options are available including on-campus living in a small group setting which provides a comfortable living-learning environment, a newly constructed residence hall/apartment complex, as well as college sponsored off-campus apartments. Priority is given to students from outside the immediate Buffalo area.

Non-traditional students or transfers over 21 who may be interested in living off-campus are encouraged to contact the Coordinator of Residence Life who has a list of rooms and apartments near the College. While Medaille provides an off-campus referral service, the College accepts no further responsibility in transactions between students and landlords.

Substance Abuse Education
Medaille College provides educational programming related to substance abuse. This includes participation in the National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week and various workshops/symposiums related to alcohol and drug use/abuse. Personal counseling for individual members of the College community is available through the counseling office as well as referral to community agencies in the Buffalo area. Please refer to the Student Handbook for additional information.
