Blue Vertical DividerLNG 100 LANGUAGE AND CULTURE
(Language to be specified each semester course offered.)

This course introduces the student to a specific language and the cultures in which the language is used. The general link between language and culture is explored. In addition, the student learns about a specific language: its basic structure and sounds. The related cultural content is examined through various media, including films, music and bilingual texts. Three credit hours. Offered as needed.

LNG 300 HISTORY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Consideration of major social, historical and geographic factors influencing the origin and development of English; sound, meaning, and grammatical elements of the language; differences between American and British English; attitudes toward language and language differences. Three credit hours. Offered Spring semester in even numbered years (d).
