Computer Crimes Investigation Certificate

detect and prosecute is high. Security experts estimate
annual losses of between $555,000,000 to $13 billion
can be attributed to computer crime alone.
Medaille’s Computer Crimes Investigation Certificate will train
professionals to deal with this alarming trend.
The program is designed for law enforcement personnel, financial business officers, private investigators, computer systems administrators, and criminal justice majors. If you work in a business, school, or government organization and are responsible for investigating computer misuse, terms of service violations, theft, or unauthorized computer and network access, this program is for you.

Program Features
Class sizes will be small with an experienced faculty focused on your learning needs. Outside of class, you will be a part of a supportive and dynamic student study group. Because of the unique software/ hardware needs of this specialized program, each student will be issued a laptop computer loaded with program specific software for the duration of the program.
Students in this program will become familiar with the various types of crimes committed using computers as the tool, crimes facilitated by the use of computers and crimes against computers. The program will prepare you in methods of detection, outline the correct procedures around the seizing, preserving and analyzing of computer/electronic media and data, and detect and prevent possible network intrusions. CCI will provide you with an intermediate knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems and focus on the creation, maintenance and destruction of data stored in electronic form. You will be instructed in methods of detection, collection, preservation, and examination of digital evidence and the courses will outline the correct procedures involved in seizing and analyzing computer evidence/ electronic media/digital evidence. The significance and application of various investigative techniques and procedures for criminal and non-criminal investigators will be examined.
Applying to the Program
Students must have received a high school diploma or a GED to apply for the program. Students must have a completed application for admission, a $35 application fee, official transcript from your high school, or official GED scores, and transcripts from any colleges attended. Students must also submit a letter of recommendation from a colleague or faculty member.
Deadlines
The College is on rolling admissions and will review applications as they are received. The program cohorts begin in September and February. Check with the Office of Admissions, School of Adult and Graduate Studies at (716) 631-1061 for the date of next start term. Class size is limited so applying early will improve your chances of enrolling in your desired term.
Cost and Financial Aid
Each class costs $800, not including books. If you have employer tuition benefits, please provide your admissions counselor with a copy of your plan for possible tuition deferment. Faculty
Program Director Steve MacMartin is an experienced teacher and practitioner in the field of Computer Crimes and Computer Forensics. Currently a Senior Special Agent (Criminal Investigator) with the Department of Homeland Security, MacMartin has been on Medaille’s faculty teaching courses on computer crime since 1999.
