Faculty Professional Development
Criteria
The Faculty Development Committee and Office of Academic Affairs will determine awards in each category (particularly categories II and IV) based on the
- intellectual and academic significance of the project, including its impact on the individual, teaching at the college, and the scholarly and/or general community;
- clarity and thoroughness of the proposal as presented using the appropriate application; and
- project feasibility.
To maximize the distribution of funds, each full-time faculty member is normally restricted to one award per category per academic/fiscal year. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Faculty Development Committee and Office of Academic Affairs. A complete explanation of all awards categories is available (Adobe PDF).
Category I: Faculty Travel Awards Application (Adobe PDF)
Category II: Faculty Grants for Research and Creative Work Application (Adobe PDF).
Category III: Part-time Faculty Awards
Category IV: Institutional Grants (Adobe PDF).
Category V: Discretionary
Anyone teaching on a part-time basis during the academic year is eligible to apply for one professional grant of up to $500 to support research, creative work, or travel. Part-time faculty should submit either the Faculty Travel Awards Application or the Faculty Research and Creative Work Awards Application, depending on the nature of their request.
