Careers in Education

Teachers have the potential to be the most influential people in a child's life. Each degree program at Medaille takes that notion into account, and prepares our students for careers in the classroom.

What can you do with an elementary education degree?

Elementary education teachers typically work in public, private or parochial schools in single-grade classrooms teaching multiple subjects to a set of students.

What can you do with a secondary education degree?

Secondary education teachers graduating from our program are certified in either English, Math, Chemistry, Biology or French, and can teach single-subject classes in junior and senior high schools.

What can you do with a literacy or special education degree?

Literacy and special education teachers typically work in public, private or parochial schools, working with individual students or small groups for intensive lessons.

Literacy teachers concentrate on improving reading skills, phonemic awareness and comprehension skills.

Special education teachers focus on working with children to reach their fullest potential. That may mean modifying lesson plans, participating in individualized education plan meetings, and instructing individual students or small groups.

Graduates from our education programs now work for local and regional school districts and educational centers, including:
