Master of Arts Graduate Program
Medaille's full-time master of arts degree program in psychology offers convenient courses, outstanding faculty members, and an innovative format designed for students wishing to gain entrance into a subfield of psychology or pursue a doctoral degree.
Through a 36-credit course of study, students take courses (18 credits) in behavioral neuroscience, clinical psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, psychopathology, and social psychology, statistics and research. A written thesis of potentially publishable quality is required to earn the M.A. degree.
Our program provides students with a thorough grounding in advanced principles of psychology at a graduate level, and gives students an understanding of the tools of advanced psychology that is suitable for building careers in business, education, research, and government.
Our faculty have extensive experience in the foundations and practice of psychology and their work can be found in numerous scholarly publications. Medaille’s faculty hold doctorates in psychology, counseling psychology, counselor education and clinical psychology. They are dedicated to creating a thoughtful, engaging and supportive learning environment.
In addition, this program is an opportunity for students:
- to strengthen their credentials in order to improve their chances of gaining acceptance into a doctoral program in psychology;
- to enter a doctoral program after having explored advanced courses in several sub-fields in psychology;
- to learn more about psychology and focus their interests, and then apply for and gain entrance to a doctoral program in Psychology;
- to provide students with advanced training in each of the core areas of study;
- to provide students with a command of the analytical tools necessary to successful careers in psychology.
All classes except Internship and Thesis Guidance take place at our Amherst campus, conveniently located off the NYS Thruway in Williamsville, NY.
