Learning Communities
Learning Communities at Medaille College are intentionally structured groups of two-to-three classes connected by a theme. Students in Learning Communities co-enroll in linked courses where faculty work together to plan and coordinate a curriculum designed to emphasize experiential learning, leadership, and teamwork skills.
Each Learning Community includes a first year seminar course where the instructor serves as the students’ academic advisor for the entire freshman year. Students are actively involved in an engaging and supportive learning environment that provides an opportunity for increased involvement in the College community. Through interdisciplinary activities that extend learning beyond the classroom, Learning Community participants form strong friendships and support networks early in the college experience.
