Biology
Biology is the study of life in all forms – from microscopic amoebas on the surface of Lake Erie to the ecosystem of the entire planet. Rigorous training in biological theories, biomedical procedures and environmental studies are the hallmarks of our Biology program.
Core courses include: biostatistics, botany, cell biology, ecology, epidemiology, genetics, and microbiology. With electives like immunology, animal behavior, herpetology, ichthyology, ornithology, mammalogy, and organic evolution, students can easily sample all aspects of the biological sciences, or specialize in one narrow area.
Students also take courses in general chemistry, organic chemistry, and mathematics. Graduates from this program move on to medical school, advanced veterinary training, government and industry. Graduates of Medaille's associate's degree in Veterinary Technology may transfer into the Biology degree program without loss of any credits.
Faculty
The Biology program is part of the Mathematics and Sciences department, which includes faculty members who specialize in areas such as biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics.
