Meet Jessica L. Coe
At Medaille College, I currently help most transfer students complete their transition into Medaille from other schools. I also work with several of the metropolitan Buffalo area high school students as well as adult students who are seeking our traditional academic programs.
I am originally from rural Union City, PA. I moved to Buffalo about five years ago.
After working with many transfer students, I find one common mistake most students make during their college search—they did not visit enough prospective colleges. Only by visiting schools and talking with the staff and students will you find if a school is the right fit for you

Education
I am a 1999 graduate of Union City High School and I also graduated with my bachelor’s degree in marketing from The Pennsylvania State University in 2003.
I also am working on my master’s degree in elementary & special education.
College Activities
My love of college admissions started with my involvement as a Lion Ambassador. We helped the Admissions Office and Alumni Affairs with making visitors feel welcome on our campus.
I was very much involved with collegiate athletics by participating in cross country and indoor/outdoor track. I was selected as captain of the cross country team my senior year. While in cross country I was an all-conference selection in 1999, 2001, and in 2002. My cross country team was also selected as Academic All-Americans.
I was also a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative for cross country. SAAC is a group of student-athletes who serve as liaisons between their college and the NCAA for legislative issues to improve the quality and fairness of NCAA sports. You can participate in SAAC and lots of other clubs while at Medaille too.
I am also a current member of Pi Lambda Theta, a national honor society for education students.
Fun Facts
Since 7th grade I have been involved with running and I am so proud that I have now completed TWO marathons. On September 9th 2007 I dropped 19 minutes off of my previous marathon attempt. I think I want to run the DC or Chicago marathon next. Next year I plan to do a third marathon in less than 4 hours.
Currently I am reading two books: Marley & Me by John Grogan and Daniels’ Running Formula by Jack Daniels, one of the world’s best distance running coaches.
Within the past few months I cut 11 inches off of my hair and donated it to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that provides hair pieces to economically challenged children who suffer from any type of long-term hair loss.
My sister is also a high school senior this fall, so I can relate to what a lot of high school seniors are experiencing this year. I have been helping her get ready for SATs, ACTs, and looking at potential colleges with her.
