Emergency Management Plan


Recent tragedies at institutions of higher education have demonstrated the importance of, crisis management pre-planning and preparation. Throughout the past year, Medaille has made significant improvements to the organizational response structure of the College, including the review and redevelopment of the Medaille College Emergency Management Plan PDF by local, State and Federal Emergency Management Officials.

As a member of the Medaille College community, it is important that each of you are aware that in the event of an emergency the College will operate under a different set of policies and procedures than it does during normal business operations. While we have campus personnel who will be responsible for the management of the campus during these emergency periods, your understanding and cooperation will be crucial in the event of a crisis situation.

This Emergency Management Plan has been developed by a committee of Medaille College faculty, staff and administrators and meets the strict guidelines of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS). Additionally, it has been evaluated by the Erie County Emergency Services/Disaster Preparedness Division to ensure its adequacy and compliance.

It is imperative that all members of the Medaille College community familiarize, internalize and understand the Emergency Management Plan. Through this plan, future training sessions, implemented new technologies and other campus enhancements, we can all play a significant role in reducing the negative effects of a crisis situation and accelerate the restoration of normal college functions.
