STEP ONE: Applying for a PIN number
When completing your FAFSA on the Web, you need to register for a PIN number that is issued by the Department of Education. If you are a new student applying for Financial Aid you can request one at http://www.pin.ed.gov. If you complete the FAFSA on the Web without a PIN number, you will need to print the signature page, sign it, and mail it to the Department of Education. MAKE SURE TO APPLY FOR A PIN ONLINE, otherwise it will take about two weeks to get the PIN in the mail, delaying your financial aid process. If you do have a PIN number and are a continuing student, you can use your same PIN number. If you misplaced your PIN number, you can request a duplicate PIN Number. If you need more information, you may call the Federal Student Information Center at (800) 801-0576.

STEP TWO: Completing your FAFSA
Use FAFSA on the Web at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov to apply for financial aid. When entering your ADDRESS, space over to the end of the line and type in 01. This will get your information to our Amherst Site more quickly. It takes approximately two weeks to process your FAFSA on the Web and six weeks to process your paper FAFSA application. When applying for FAFSA, please make sure to use Federal Code for Medaille College (all Locations) which is 002777.

STEP THREE: Applying for a Master Promissory Note
To apply for your student loans, the Master Promissory Note can be completed on the Web at http://www.hesc.com. Click on to College & Adult Students, then click on Loan Application/e-MPN (Master Promissory Note) then follow the directions on the webpage on how to apply for the loans. You will use the same PIN number that is used by FAFSA on WEB. You may also call 888-697-4372. If you are student entering with zero “0” credits you will need to fill out at entrance interview. The form could be found on ENTRANCE COUNSELING.

STEP FOUR: Mailing SAR Report to Financial Aid Office
AFTER completing FAFSA Online and your MPN, please send a copy of your SAR report to the financial aid office

1. After filling out the FAFSA, it will take approximately three to seven days to get a SAR Report by e-mail or by mail. Make a print out of the SAR report by going to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov and then go to FAFSA Follow-up, and Print SAR Report and choose correct award year and then confirm your identity using your PIN number and make a print out. (This is one document we need).
2. If you checked TUITION REIMBURSEMENT POLICY FROM EMPLOYER, please include the Tuition Reimbursement Policy along with the SAR report.

IMPORTANT: Please send all paperwork together. By receiving all paperwork together we can have your financial aid award processed more quickly.

3. Once you’ve collected all your information, please mail to:

Attn: Financial Aid- New Student (TRK/BBA/MBA/MOL) or Cohort Number
Medaille College Adult & Professional Studies
400 Essjay Road, Suite 100
Williamsville, NY 14221

If you are a new student put New Student beside the Attn: Financial Aid and the degree program you are entering into, or if you are a continuing student put the present COHORT NUMBER after Attention: Financial Aid. This will help us to identify where to file the information.

STEP FIVE: Tap Application from HESC
HESC will mail you a TAP application generated from FAFSA Please make sure to look at it and make corrections to it and mail it to HESC. By sending in this application, HESC will determine your TAP award. If you did not get one or need a replacement TAP application, you can go to http://www.hesc.com. Click on to College & Adult Students and then click on Check Your TAP Award or Loan Account Status and Request Duplicate TAP Forms then follows the directions on the webpage on how to request for a duplicate TAP form.

STEP SIX: Verification Process
Sometimes, a student’s application will be chosen for verification, which can delay the process in determining the Financial Aid Package. Medaille College will notify the students who are chosen for the verification process by e-mail. You will also need to send a copy of your 2005 Income TAX along with Verification Worksheet for Verification process. If you have any questions please e-mail Phyllis Hart.

STEP SEVEN: Once Information is Received
Medaille College will use your SAR to construct your financial aid package once all information is received. If you followed all the steps, the financial aid package can be determined within two weeks of receiving all information. The Financial Aid Package will be explained in a letter you will receive once you have been admitted to the program.
