Study Groups
A learning tool that works; the Accelerated Learning Program emphasizes participatory learning - the kind of learning that comes from working with other students. Study groups encourage active participation through group assignments which apply, analyze, and evaluate course material.
What are study groups?
Study groups are comprised of three to five students each and meet at least four hours each week outside class. They are formed during the first course and remain in place throughout, as an integral part of each Accelerated Learning Program course. There are many advantages to the study group process:
- helps students gain knowledge and experience from one another
- simulates the corporate environment
- blends individual strengths and weaknesses
- helps students learn how to support one another
- builds self-confidence and self-esteem
- develops leadership skills
- extends the scope of project assignments
- develops decision-making skills.
