The Office of Information Technology provides information and computer services to the Medaille community. Through a cooperative arrangement with Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, Medaille College provides comprehensive, online services in the form of an SCT Banner database system.
The Banner system supports MedailleOne and BbVista. MedailleOne is the core administrative system controlling all academic and financial records, including online registration for classes. BbVista is an eClassroom system that provides an online component to academic classes. Detailed information on these systems is available via the links in the right sidebar.
Detailed procedural guidelines, reference materials and instructional resources are available on the IT web site.
Technology Policies
Use of College computers and computer services is defined in the Medaille College Policy Manual Volume II - Campus Community Policies, which includes an Acceptable Use Policy.
Our Goal
In order for the Office of Information Technology to achieve its goal of providing and coordinating technical support and services to the entire Medaille College community, the department is organized into cooperative service areas. These include Academic Computing, Management Information Services, Tech Support, and Networking.
Academic Computing Services
Academic Computing Services supports over 200 student-use PCs throughout the Buffalo campus. Workstations are located in the H209 open-access lab, the Library, Residence Halls, the Student Activities room and four PC classrooms. IT staff are on-site to assist students in the PC lab.
All classrooms have overhead projectors and four have multi-media podiums, as does the 120 seat Lecture Hall. Both Huber Hall PC classrooms are equipped with an interactive, touch-sensitive SMART Board for enhanced presentations. All PCs are protected with Symantec's AntiVirus program, providing daily virus definition updates.
The Multimedia Lab in H202 provides 18 state-of-the art Macintosh computers with the necessary software to create video presentations, computer animation, 3D rendering, plus image and sound manipulation.
Management Information Services
Management Information Services provides Banner database support to the administrative operations of the College, including Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Financial Services, Institutional Research and Student Services. The goal of MIS is to provide the end users in each department with the technical training and support needed to adequately perform their specialized functions. In addition, MIS compiles and processes the more elaborate data reporting requests and makes every effort to address security concerns over the privacy of the data collected.
Tech Support Services
Tech Support Services provides front-line assistance and support to faculty and staff. This includes purchase, configuration and maintenance of computers, laptops and peripheral devices for all College offices. In addition, Tech Support manages all user data accounts, provides Help Desk support and provides audio-visual support and services.
Networking Services
Networking Services provides connectivity to, within and between campuses. Staff acquires, configures, deploys and supports all central servers, domain controllers, Cisco switches, and firewalls in order to provide and maintain fast, reliable and secure Internet and inter-network connectivity.
