School of Adult and Graduate Education (SAGE) Financial Aid

Associate, Bachelor's and Master's Programs

Medaille College provides a variety of federal, state, and institutional aid programs to assist students in meeting their educational expenses. An applicant's eligibility for aid is determined by an evaluation of the information provided on the Medaille College Financial Aid Application, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and the New York State Tuition Assistance Program Application.

Steps in Applying for Financial Aid

STEP 1: Applying for a PIN number
In order to complete your FAFSA on the web, you need to apply for a PIN number that is issued by the Department of Education. If you are a new student applying for Financial Aid you can request one at www.pin.ed.gov. If you complete the FAFSA on the web without a PIN number, you will need to print the signature page, sign it, and mail it to the Department of Education. MAKE SURE TO APPLY FOR A PIN ONLINE, otherwise it will take about two weeks to get the PIN in the mail, delaying your financial aid process. Continuing students use the same PIN each year. If you misplaced your PIN, you can request a duplicate PIN. If you need more information, you may call the Federal Student Information Center at 1-800-433-3243.

STEP 2: Completing your FAFSA
Go to FAFSA on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov to apply for financial aid. It takes approximately two weeks to process your FAFSA on the web and six weeks to process your paper FAFSA application. When applying for the FAFSA, please make sure to use the Federal Code for Medaille College (all locations) which is 002777. If selected for verification, you will be advised by the Financial Aid Office and requested to send in additional information.

STEP 3: TAP Application from HESC (NYS residents only)
After you complete your FAFSA online, you will be given the option of completing your TAP application at this time. Clicking this link will populate your application form using information from your FAFSA. If you do not choose this option, you may fill out your application at anytime by going to www.hesc.com. We recommend you complete both applications at once or you will have to input data a second time.
Undergraduate TAP code: 0505
Graduate TAP code: 5805

STEP 4: Applying for a Master Promissory Note
To apply for Federal Stafford Loans, an electronic Master Promissory Note can be completed on the web at www.hesc.com. Click on: Students, Families, and Counselors. Then click on "Complete the e-MPN" and follow the simple instructions to complete your student loan MPN electronically. During the e-MPN process, you will have the opportunity to set up a HESC User ID and pin which will also be used for TAP. If you need more information contact HESC at: 1-888-697-4372.

STEP 5: Entrance Loan Counseling
All students must complete entrance loan counseling for their Federal Stafford Loans. Go to mappingyourfuture.org and click on Online Student Loan Counseling to complete this process.

STEP 6: Financial Aid Award Letter
Medaille College will process your financial aid package once all information is received. If you followed all the steps, your financial aid award letter will be mailed to you.

Scholarships

Prospective and accepted SAGE students should read through the list of Scholarship Opportunities, which include the Allen Lee Downing Memorial Scholarship, the ALP Scholarship and the ALP Women in Business Scholarship.

SAGE Employer Tuition Reimbursement

A student receiving employer tuition reimbursement is required to provide the College with a letter from their employer prior to the first scheduled day of classes identifying the employee-student and the terms of the employer’s reimbursement policy.

Assuming the necessary documentation has been received; Medaille College will recognize the employer’s tuition payment policy and defer receipt of tuition and/or fees accordingly.

Future semester deferments are only available to students who fulfill their payment obligations in accordance with the employer reimbursement plan. Failure to do so will result in a $150.00 late fee.
