Direct questions regarding financial aid to: (716) 880-2256

STEP ONE: Applying for a PIN
In order to complete your FAFSA on the Web, you need to register for a PIN that is issued by the Department of Education. If you are a new student applying for Financial Aid you can request one at http://www.pin.ed.gov. If you complete the FAFSA on the Web without a PIN number, you will need to print the signature page, sign it, and mail it to the Department of Education. MAKE SURE TO APPLY FOR A PIN ONLINE, otherwise it will take about two weeks to get the PIN in the mail, delaying your financial aid process. Continuing students can use the same PIN each year. If you misplaced your PIN, you can request a duplicate PIN. If you need more information, you may call the Federal Student Information Center at (800) 801-0576.

STEP TWO: Completing your FAFSA
Use FAFSA on the Web at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov to apply for financial aid. It takes approximately two weeks to process your FAFSA on the Web and six weeks to process your paper FAFSA application. When applying for FAFSA, please make sure to use the Federal Code for Medaille College (all Locations) which is 002777. If selected for verification, you will be advised by the Financial Aid Office and requested to send in additional information.

STEP THREE: TAP Application from HESC (NYS residents only)
After you complete your FAFSA online, you will be given the option of completing your TAP application at this time. Clicking this link will populate your application form using information from your FAFSA. If you do not choose this option, you may fill out your application at anytime by going to http://www.hesc.com. We recommend you complete both applications at once or you will have to input data a second time.

STEP FOUR: Applying for a Master Promissory Note
To apply for your student loans, a Master Promissory Note can be completed on the Web at http://www.hesc.com. Click on to Students, Families, Borrowers & Counselors, then click on Loan Application/e-MPN (Master Promissory Note) and follow the directions on the webpage. During the e-MPN process, you will have the opportunity to set up a HESC pin which will also be used for TAP. You may also call 888-697-4372.

STEP FIVE: Entrance Loan Counseling
If you are a new student entering Medaille with zero "0" credits you will need to fill out at entrance interview. The form could be found at Mapping Your Future/Entrance Counseling.

STEP SIX: Financial Aid Award Letter
Medaille College will construct your financial aid package once all information is received. If you followed all the steps, the financial aid package will be determined as soon as possible.
