Undergraduate Scholarships
A large number of merit scholarships are awarded by the Undergraduate Admissions Office each year to incoming first-year and transfer students enrolling in traditional, undergraduate programs at the Buffalo Campus.
Undergraduate and transfer students are considered for these scholarship funds by completing their Medaille Application for Admission.
Merit Scholarships for First-time Freshmen
Trustees Scholarship
The Trustees Scholarship is for $11,000 per year. The award remains renewable for three years as long as the student maintains full-time status and a 3.25 average.
President's Scholarship
The President's Scholarship is for $10,000 per year. The award remains renewable for three years as long as the student maintains full-time status and a 3.0 average.
Dean's Scholarship
The Dean's Scholarship is for $7,500 per year. The award remains renewable for three years as long as the student maintains full-time status and a 2.8 average.
Gold Scholarship: $6,000
Blue Scholarship: $4,000
True Blue and Gold Honors Scholarship: $2,500
Transfer Students
Medaille Collegiate Scholarship: $6,000
Merit Scholarship: $5,000
Transfer Grant: $4,000
Financial Aid Grant: $3,000
Alpha Chi Scholarship: $1,000 (students with an Alpha Chi Award may bring that
to Medaille)
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship: $1,000
Institutional Scholarships and Awards
The Alumni Referral Scholarship was established to offer Alumni the opportunity to do two good deeds at once, help a deserving student and help the Admissions Office recruit an exciting class. The Alumni Referral Scholarship is a grant of $1,000 renewable for four years as long as the full-time student maintains academic progress. More »
The Anna Illuzzi Palano Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually by the Medaille College Alumni Association. Factors considered in judging applicants include financial need, scholastic ability, participation in activities, personal initiatives, and community involvement. More »
Students aspiring to become leaders in the business world can consider applying fo the Allen Lee Downing Memorial Scholarship. Allen Lee Downing possessed a strong passion for and commitment to the service of others, and students receiving this award will have an opportunity to receive the tools to achieve those lofty goals through the generous support provided by all of the many people whose lives Allen Lee Downing touched.
Scholarships will be awarded to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled, full-time, as declared business, accounting, or management majors who have maintained an overall GPA of 3.0 or entering freshmen with a four year, cumulative grade point average of no less than 85% or 3.0. More »
The ALP Scholarship, established by Medaille College faculty and staff,
awards 2-$500 scholarship for non-traditional students enrolled in the Accelerated Learning Program at the Amherst or Rochester Campus.
The following are general requirements for those who wish to apply for the scholarship:
• Must be an adult student (23 years old or older)
• Must be seeking a bachelor’s or master’s degree
• Must be accepted into and registered for the Accelerated Learning Program
Students may apply for the scholarship as they begin the program; the scholarship will be awarded through their course of study. More »
The Margaret Kafka Women Aspire Scholarship is awarded to a female non-traditional age student with financial need for whom a college degree will be a life altering achievement. This $1000 scholarship provides support for women who have never attended a post-secondary educational institution or those who previously attended a post-secondary educational institution. More »
The Heidi A. Raphael Communication Scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding student currently participating in the Communication Program. The applicant must have a sophomore or junior standing with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and be interested in pursuing a career in the communication industry.
Scholarships for Returning Medaille Students
Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors
These scholarships are awarded at the College's annual Honors Convocation.
The Dr. Susan Bokman Leitzan Scholarship was established in honor of Dr. Sue to ensure that her passion for animals and her commitment to the veterinary profession live on. This scholarship is awarded to upper-classmen Vet Tech students achieving academic excellence and who have completed an internship and have work experience.
The Roger F. Bonenfant Memorial Scholarship: is an endowed scholarship awarded annually to an eligible junior or senior. This scholarship was established in memory of Roger Bonenfant, a faculty member in the Human Services Department from 1971 to 1988. Factors considered in judging applicants include financial need and academic standing.
The Business Program Scholarship was established to recognize a business major demonstrating financial need and academic excellence.
The Jacqueline Downey Memorial Scholarship: provides a limited number of scholarships for students who need less than 24 credits to graduate and who have exhausted some or all financial aid.
The Alexander P. and Charlotte T. Dzierba Scholarship is a grant-in-aid for textbooks given every semester. Full-time juniors and seniors at Medaille enrolled in the Social Sciences or Humanities programs who possess a GPA of at least 3.0 and demonstrate economic need are eligible.
The Garman Family Scholarship is awarded to students entering their freshman year pursuing degrees in Child and Youth Services, Education, and Health and Human Services. The scholarship is based on academic ability and financial need and is given to students whose career focus is to help others.
The Darlene Harding Scholarship: is awarded annually to a student pursuing a program of study that emphasizes math and science. Demonstrated financial need is also a consideration. The scholarship is named in memory of Dr. Darlene Harding, a faculty member at Medaille College for 10 years, who was tragically killed in an automobile accident. The scholarship was established to honor her dedication to the College.
The William Randolph Hearst Scholarship is awarded to students who have overcome obstacles to pursue their education. The Hearst Foundation donated money to Medaille College to provide opportunities to help students achieve a college education.
The Anna M. Kramer Scholarship: is awarded to an adult student (over 25) in management-related programs with an interest in accounting. A student will be selected on the basis of demonstrated financial need and academic merit.
The Medaille Endowment Scholarship was established to ensure that high-achieving students in need of financial aid received assistance as they worked toward their degree.
The Palisano Foundation Scholarship is awarded to ensure that higher education is accessihble to students driven to succeed who may not, on their own, have the financial capacity.
The Mike Roszman Memorial Scholarship: is for a junior or senior Media/Communications major. It is awarded on the basis of demonstrated talent in radio broadcast/journalism, financial need, and participation in school events related to media communications. This scholarship is funded by WGR News Radio 55.
The Joseph and Isabelle Runfola Scholarship is awarded to a student with a working-class background who is studying in a major that will help others. Financial need is considered.
The Joseph E. Savarese Sr. Memorial Scholarship was named for a career law enforcement professional witht eh NYPD and later public elementary school teacher for special students in New York City. The scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in veterinary technology who demonstrates academic excellence and financial need.
The Sisters of St. Joseph Scholarship is awarded to an education major involved in extra-curricular activities.
The Kevin I. and Virginia D. Sullivan Scholarship is awarded to an entering transfer student whose academic record promises success at Medaille and who has demonstrated leadership potential through prior activities in college or in the community.
The Kevin I. Sullivan Memorial Scholarship was established to honor a Medaille legacy. Former President Sullivan was beloved by alumni and students and cared deeply for the College.
The Student Aid Fund Scholarship awards students demonstrating financial need and academic excellence.
The Stanley P. Szymanski Scholarship is for students of Polish descent. Financial need is considered.
The Veterinary Technology Scholarship: is awarded to a Medaille College student entering his/her second year in the Veterinary Technology program. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need and good academic standing.
The Dr. Phillip Weber Scholarship is awarded to a student entering his/her second year in the Veterinary Technology program. The student must be in good academic standing.
