Green Pledge
Medaille College commits itself to enhancing stakeholders’ understanding of environmental issues and to the development of a campus culture
haracterized by individual and collective environmental responsibility, resource stewardship, and sustainable development.
- Bring together a team of dedicated individuals (students, faculty, administrators and service staff) to further the work began by the True, Blue and Gold Leadership students.
- Build a foundation for sustainability that will be carried out each year by the campus community.
- Create a cohesive team of environmental advocates to carry out the work of the Green Council.
- Help to ensure that our campus sustainability is comprehensive, including operations, teaching, research, and outreach.
- Make substantive recommendations for achieving sustainable operations and sustainability education based on environmental audits and needs assessments.
- Create an environmental charge for the college community to follow.
- Research and share data regarding the best Green practices in higher education
- Establish and prioritize annual institutional sustainability goals
Sustainability Resources for Higher Education
The Medaille College Green Council offers students, faculty, staff, and administrators at all campuses this “starter kit” of resources on sustainability efforts in American higher education.
We hope it will serve as an inspiration and practical guide to all individuals and groups searching for profitable ways to translate their commitment to environmental responsibility, resource stewardship, and sustainable development into tangible action.
