Institutional Review Board (IRB)next

Medaille's Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a committee designated to review, to approve the initiation of, and to conduct periodic review of research involving human subjects. The primary purpose of such review is to assure the protection of the rights and welfare of the human subjects.

Medaille College's Institutional Review Board meets during the third week of every month. Applications should be submitted to www.medaille.edu/institutional-review-board-application-form prior to the last day of the month to be reviewed at the following month's meeting.

Important reminder: For any application to be considered by the Medaille Institutional Review Board, all individuals named on the application are "required to have successfully completed a web-based tutorial with exercises to demonstrate their knowledge of the protection of human subjects used in research." (Medaille College IRB – Human Subjects Research Manual)

Medaille College requires individuals to have passed and submitted their certificate of the National Institute of Health's tutorial for general education on the use of human subjects in research or another training that is approved by the Medaille College IRB (must be cleared before approval). No research application will be approved without proper documentation of this training.
