2007-2008 Season Review

The Medaille College varsity golf program continued its climb up the AMCC ladder as they finished off the 2007 fall season with a 2nd place finish at the AMCC Championships with a two day team total of (648), that was (19) strokes off the 1st place team, Penn State-Altoona. The Mavs finished on the winning half of competing fields in 5 of 7 tournaments and saw seven rounds in the 70's over the fall season. The team was led by senior, Scott Hack (Angola, IN/Angola) who averaged (80.14) over his seven competitive rounds of golf. He was followed by freshman, John Haberman (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) who shot an average of (80.22) in nine rounds while junior, Aaron Jantzi (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) was third on the team with an average of (80.88) in eight rounds. The Mavs had a historical moment in the spring of 2008 as they won the Penn State-Behrend Spring Invitational. It marked the first win for the Mavs in a tournament with more than two teams. The Mavs shot a (305) as a team and beat out nine other Division III teams, including AMCC Champion Penn State-Altoona. In that tournament Haberman was a medalist who shot a team low (73). The Mavs will look to build upon the successes of the 2007-2008 season as they are seeking their first AMCC Championship and a berth to the NCAA Tournament in the fall of 2008.
