Men's Soccer

2006 Season Review
The Medaille Mavericks Men’s Soccer team improved upon their 2005 campaign in which they made it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. The Mavs of 2006 dominated AMCC play finishing at (9-0-0) in conference action and (20-1-1) overall. The Mavs not only made it to the NCAA Tournament but they received a first round bye due to their strong play throughout the season. The Mavs hosted Nazareth College in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament and it would be a game for the ages as the teams would finish regulation and two overtime periods deadlocked at (2-2). The game would then move to penalty kicks and the ending would prove to be epic as Nazareth would outlast the Mavs (16-15) on penalty kicks. The Mavs tremendously successful season netted them many individual postseason honors. The Mavs leader all season was senior, Ryan Mangano (Silver Creek, NY/Silver Creek), he led the nation in scoring and finished as the Runner Up for the National Player of the Year, he was also named the AMCC Player of the Year and was selected to the D3kicks.com "Team of the Week" twice. Also receiving AMCC honors were Cory Cwiklinski (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster), Jeremy Watson (Lockport, NY/Lockport), Gary Boughton (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) and Craig Yanni (Hornell, NY/Hornell) were all named to the AMCC First Team, Boughton was also named the AMCC Newcomer of the Year. Sophomore, Jacob Reisdorf (Holland, NY/Holland) was named to Second Team and earning Honorable Mention honors were Jared Reisdorf (Holland, NY/Holland) and Kendall McFayden (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville North). The Mavs have found tremendous success over the past two seasons as they are (38-3-3) in their (44) games over that time span. They will look to win the AMCC title for a third straight time in the 2007 season as they will return many skilled players in the fall.
