2005-2006 Summary

Statistics and Results

2005-2006 Outlook

The Lady Mavs followed up their first twenty win season in 2004-2005 with a remarkable 2005-2006 season in which they finished the year at (26-2) and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. They did all of this while starting (4) sophomores and (1) freshman. The Lady Mavs were led by two time AMCC Player of the Year Amanda Baker (Lyons, NY - Newark) who was a dominant force in the paint and was aided by First Team All Conference guard Marisa Clark (Hilton, NY - Hilton). The Lady Mavs finished the season with a #24 national ranking in the D3Hoops.com poll and Amanda Baker was named First Team All Region and Honorable Mention All America by them as well. The season was marked with many highlights as the Lady Mavs handily defeated powerhouse St. John Fisher College, they won (18) consecutive games prior to their round two loss at perennial power Rochester and they swept the AMCC regular season finishing with a perfect (18-0) record. As the regular season wound down the Lady Mavs were focused going into the AMCC Tournament as they dominated en route to that title as well. In leading the Lady Mavs, head coach Pete Lonergan was named the AMCC Coach of the Year for the second straight year. The NCAA Tournament appearance was the first for the Lady Mavs and the second of any kind for Medaille College. In the 2005 season Medaille was invited to the ECAC Tournament which marked the first postseason appearance for the program. The 2006-2007 season should prove to be a success as well, as Medaille will return all five starters to their lineup.
