Women's Lacrosse

2008 Review

The Medaille College women's lacrosse team reached new heights in the 2008 season as they experienced their most success ever. The Lady Mavs finished the season at (7-4) which is the most wins in a season in their history. Under the tutelage of first year head coach, Sarah Royer, the Lady Mavs flourished enroute to their first ever postseason appearance. The Lady Mavs were invited to the ECAC Upstate Tournament as a result of their strong regular season performance. During the season the Lady Mavs were led by senior, Kim Coleman (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) who had (18 goals - 9 assists) for a team high (27) points, Coleman became the first player to reach the (100) point milestone as she finishes her career with (102) points. Meanwhile teammate Melyssa Tollar (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) netted a team high (24) goals, giving her (79) for her career, that is the most ever. A pair of freshmen burst onto the scene in 2008 as Corinne Nasca (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) (18 goals) and Marilyn Meyer (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) (14 goals - 1 assist) played major roles in the teams success. Sophomore, goalie, Betty Herberger (Amherst, NY/Amherst) had a solid season between the pipes finishing with (83) saves and a (.419) save percentage. In 2009 the Lady Mavs will return a strong core of players and will look to supplement their roster through a solid recruiting class.
