Community Is Your Classroom

The things you experience and do in the community help shape not only your future, but the future of others. Medaille students learn beyond the four walls of the classroom. Your community is your learning environment. Through active learning and EQUIP, Medaille College focuses on civic sustainability. EQUIP teaches undergraduates how to identify, assess and solve real issues in their own communities. Every student is capable of great change, and faculty link on-campus learning with real-world problem solving. What you learn today gets applied tomorrow, and makes an impact in your community. Your Medaille education directly affects your surroundings in positive ways.

For instance, mathematics students developed compatibility algorithms to help Big Brothers Big Sisters better match volunteers and create stronger bonds. Master of Business Administration students develop business plans for new or struggling businesses in Buffalo. Osteria 166, for example, is now a landmark downtown restaurant thanks to innovative Medaille students who developed a creative business strategy that launched its success.

True success is when you realize how influential you can be. Medaille students are taught civic responsibility from day one. Explore your community, understand your major, involve yourself and produce new knowledge. This is how you make a difference in your community at Medaille, where college meets career.
