Allergy sufferers take note; Pure Solutions, NA and Tom Pickles ’06 MBA are creating PURE allergy-friendly hotel rooms to help you breathe easier. Pickles is the Director of Operations at Pure Solutions, a company that is committed to providing healthier environments for the hospitality industry, commercial and residential settings in the United States and Canada.
After serving 7½ years in the Army, Pickles earned a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Buffalo and began his career with Advanced Facility Services (AFS). While at AFS, he was asked to join a new business venture with Pure Solutions.
Launching a new business requires a special set of skills. "While I was helping to build the business plan, I realized that I did not have the business acumen that would help me at the next level of my career," Pickles said. "I decided that an MBA program was my next step."
"I would describe Tom as one of our MBA program's best graduates. His work in the classroom was always first rate and his leadership abilities were very obvious," said Dr. Bill Weeks, one of Pickles’ Business professors in the Accelerated Learning Program. Pickles was a very accomplished student. "He is an aggressive individual in everything that he does and takes what he does very seriously," said Weeks.
Medaille’s ALP graduates are employed in a variety of fields. "Tom is the type of alumnus that this college can be very proud of and hold as a model for others in the (ALP) program," Weeks said.
Pickles and his wife Kirsten are the parents of four daughters, ages 11, 8, 6 and 4. The family currently resides in Lockport.
The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
