Amber M. Dixon '90 has been named interim superintendent for the Buffalo Public Schools by the Buffalo Board of Education. She will begin her duties on September 16.

From the Buffalo Schools web site: "There is no more critical task than making the changes necessary to provide our students with a high quality education. Buffalo will not succeed if we fail our children,” Dixon said. “Within that, there is a job to be done in preserving our best practices, empowering the professionals in our schools, and in helping to lay the course for the work ahead of us as a district. I accept the challenge. I am reaching out to this entire community, supporters and critics alike, to join in saving our future. I am honored to be the person asked by the Board of Education to begin this process."

I'm grateful for the education I've received.

The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
