Faculty from Medaille College's School of Education attended the New York State Teachers' Conference, "Teacher Educators Taking Action: Forging Connections and Demonstrating Leadership to Shape the Decade Ahead."

The event brought educators from across the state together to discuss new changes and policies in education and how to best implement them.

Medaille faculty presented several sessions during the conference, with Susan Dunkle, Ed.D., Mary Beth Scumaci, Jane Scura, Ed.D., Patricia Heffernan, Ed.D. and Amanda Schaus speaking on the topic "The Common Core Standards: Incorporating into Pre-service Teacher Education from Classroom Discussions to Technology."

Virginia Batchelor, Ph.D., Jeff Faunce, Ph.D, Illana Lane, Ph.D. and Jim Thompson presented "The Mis-Education of the Public About the Teaching Profession,” with Dr. Faunce presenting also on "What Makes Teachers Memorable.”

Scumaci, Schaus, Dr. Scura and Dr. Faunce also presented " Technology, What’s in your Program? Training Faculty to Train Teacher Candidates to Teach Children.”

I'm grateful for the education I've received.

The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
