Keith Klostermann, Ph.D., LMHC, has been invited to provide a two-day training on behavioral couples therapy to Phoenix House in New York City. This independent, nonprofit organization and has since grown to become the nation’s leading provider of alcohol and drug abuse treatment and prevention services operating more than 123 programs and caring for a population of over 6,000.
Dr. Klostermann, the program director of the master of arts in psychology program and a visiting assistant professor, will present the training in March. The Phoenix House Academy was designated a “model program” by the U.S. Department of Justice, and the federal government subsequently has listed the Academy model in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices (NREPP).

The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
