The New York Press Association has awarded the Perspective, Medaille's student newspaper, second place for general excellence in the statewide "Better Newspaper Contest."

In its comments, reviewers noted that the publication was: "a solid package. Open design makes easy reading-inviting. Lots of news-good variety."

The staff also received honorable mention for design, noting a sports page devoted to the Buffalo Bills and several other pages during the year.

These awards recognize the Perspective with high praise among peers and help the staff when pursuing fellowships and career positions after graduation.
