The Office of Disability Services coordinated its annual Disability Awareness Fair on Thursday, April 26 at the Buffalo Campus. Fair.
The morning featured a series of awareness exhibits in the Kevin I. Sullivan Campus Center that simulated what it may be like to have an auditory, visual or cognitive learning disability. In the afternoon, students, faculty and staff heard from Karl Shallowhorn, a certified New York State substance abuse counselor who has struggled with addiction and mental illness. He has a master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration and has written a book, Working on Wellness: A Practical Guide to Mental Health. Learn more about Shallowhorn at wowbuffalo.net.

The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
