Dr. Brad Hollingshead, Associate Dean for Foundational Learning and Assessment, has been named one of ten honorees for 2012-13 in the National Resource Center for the First-Year Experience and Students in Transition campaign to recognize Outstanding First-Year Student Advocates involved in high-impact practices for first-year student success. The Center notified award recipients and their nominators on Friday, November 30, 2012.
This is a national award that the Center began conferring in 1990. This year there were 128 nominees from two- and four-year colleges around the country.
Dr. Hollingshead joined the Medaille faculty in 2000. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from Duquesne University, with specializations in nineteenth-century British literature and critical theory. As the Associate Dean for Foundational Learning and Assessment, his focus to promote student engagement, retention, and achievement.

The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
