Gayle Eagan ’66, Esq., was the alumni recipient of the Fr. Medaille Award for Service & Citizenship at the 2014 Founders’ Day Celebration. The celebration, held on April 9 on the stage of Shea’s Performing Arts Center, is the College’s signature fundraising event, which directly supports student scholarships.

Eagan was chosen to receive the Fr. Medaille Award for Service & Citizenship because she exemplifies the spirit of the founders’ of Medaille, which is to serve others. Eagan is a partner at Jaeckle Fleischmann &  Mugel, LLP in Buffalo. She co-founded Canopy of Neighbors, an organization that assists people age 62 or over to remain in their homes as they age. She recently completed serving 10 years as a member of the board of directors of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo and is a past president of Legal Services for the Elderly, Disabled or Disadvantaged of WNY.

The Fr. Medaille Award for Service & Citizenship was also awarded to a student and faculty member at Medaille as well as an organization in the Western New York Community.

The event raised nearly $40,000 for student scholarships, which will be awarded to undergraduate and graduate students during the 2014-15 academic year.

I'm grateful for the education I've received.

The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
