First Annual #MedaillePride Awards Social Honors Alumni and Others on College Colors Day


Alumni, faculty, staff, nominees and guests gathered at the inaugural #MedaillePride Awards Social on September 13. This event, which was held on Medaille’s second annual celebration of College Colors Day, served to recognize distinguished alumni, as well as those who go above and beyond to make significant contributions to the Medaille community.

Buffalo Business First recently announced its 2017 “30 Under 30” honorees, and the list includes Medaille College graduate Ashley Hirtzel ’12. She is one of 30 local men and women under the age of 30 recognized for being successful in their professions and also highly involved in community activities.

Medaille College’s Founders Day 2017 Celebration, presented by Delaware North and Phillips Lytle LLP, was held at Hotel Henry Urban Resort Conference Center inside the newly renovated and historic Richardson Olmsted Complex on June 1. Thanks to the generosity of corporate partners, as well as loyal and new supporters, Founders Day 2017 surpassed its goal to the benefit of even more hard-working and deserving students.

Understanding New York State’s Excelsior Scholarship

You’ve probably heard about New York State’s Excelsior Scholarship initiative to provide free tuition for students attending State University of New York (SUNY) and City University of New York (CUNY) schools. Governor Andrew Cuomo’s plan (effective fall 2017) is for New York residents whose family income is less than $100,000. (The income level for fall 2018 is $110,000. It tops out at $125,000 for fall 2019.)
