Understanding New York State’s Excelsior Scholarship

You’ve probably heard about New York State’s Excelsior Scholarship initiative to provide free tuition for students attending State University of New York (SUNY) and City University of New York (CUNY) schools. Governor Andrew Cuomo’s plan (effective fall 2017) is for New York residents whose family income is less than $100,000. (The income level for fall 2018 is $110,000. It tops out at $125,000 for fall 2019.)

Merchants Insurance Group Establishes Marge Kafka Scholarship at Medaille

Merchants Insurance Group has established a $25,000 endowed scholarship at Medaille to honor Marge Kafka '90, a longtime member of the College’s Board of Trustees, as she retires from the company. Kafka has worked for Merchants for the last five decades. In addition to the company's donation, Merchants Insurance President Robert Zak made a personal contribution to the scholarship.

Medaille Alum and Current Student Receive Business First ‘40 Under 40’ Honors

Buffalo Business First recently announced its 2016 “40 Under 40” honorees, and the list includes a Medaille College graduate and a current student. Brandye Merriweather ’07, a Medaille MBA alum, and Maria Whyte, a current MBA student, are among the 40 local men and women under the age of 40 recognized for being successful in their professions and also highly involved in community activities.

Medaille MBA Students Excel During Capstone Presentations

Students completing their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees at Medaille College recently presented their final capstone projects to an audience of fellow students, faculty, special guests and members of the community. Each student in the MBA program must complete and present a comprehensive business plan for their capstone experience.
