Reading Center

Medaille's Reading Center is open to all students grades K-6 in the Buffalo area. Our clinic is staffed by graduate students working towards a master's degree as Literacy Specialists. Tutors work one-on-one with students, first assessing and then analyzing assessment materials to provide the most prescriptive instruction possible.
We work with children in grades Kindergarten through 6. Participants may need either intensive instruction, or just a semester of support. We focus on word recognition skills (including decoding using phonics), word meanings (through vocabulary development), reading fluency, comprehension and writing skills and strategies.
Students receive individualized instruction designed to meet their distinct needs. Medaille's Reading Center runs for 12 week sessions in the fall and spring semesters and a 7 week session in the summer. Days and times are listed in the application.

We offer three sessions throughout the year. The Fall Session runs from early September through the first week of December. Spring sessions run from mid February through the first week of May and the Summer Session runs from the first week of July though the mid August.
