Welcome to Medaille College and the Department of Residence Life! My name is Jason Perri, and I was born and raised north of Buffalo in Tonawanda, NY. I attended SUNY Geneseo as an undergraduate and received a dual BA in English and Communication Arts. I completed a Master's of Education in Student Affiars Administration from the University at Buffalo in 2001.
I have since worked at Longwood College in rural Virginia and most recently spent five years as a residence director and Assistant Director of Residence Life at St. John’s University in New York City. In my spare time I can be found hanging out with my family, listening to music, and enjoying the sights and sounds of WNY. I also have an odd fascination with monkeys and am tough to beat in music trivia!
The goal of the Residence Life team is to provide opportunities for growth and development for all students through personal and intentional interactions and programming. Living in the residence halls and Humboldt houses allows students an opportunity to meet students from diverse backgrounds, form friendships and develop themselves into responsible adults and global citizens. From Resident Student Council to simply helping an RA with their bulletin board, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in your residential experience!
I look forward to having the opportunity to meet with you all during your time at Medaille; please feel free to reach out to me for any reason by stopping by the Sullivan Center, second floor. You can also e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Have a great year!
Hello and welcome to Medaille College! My name is Ashley Byrd and I am the South Residence hall director. I grew up in Syracuse, New York and moved to Buffalo, New York six years ago to attend the University at Buffalo. I received my BA in Psychology and just recently finished my Master’s of Education in Higher Education Administration.
Prior to joining the Medaille College family, I worked at the University at Buffalo in residence life. I was drawn to the small and close-knit community Medaille College provides to students and staff. I also love the Buffalo community that surrounds Medaille College. Buffalo is an awesome city and there is always something new to explore!
In my free time, I enjoy working out, knitting, reading, spending time with friends and family, volunteering, and exploring Buffalo. I have an obsession with koalas and pugs yet have never seen a koala nor owned a pug. They are both just too cute!
I love helping students grow and learn about themselves, others, and the world around them. I truly love what I do and I am excited to have you join our residence life family! I hope that you enjoy all that Medaille College and the residence halls have to offer you! I look forward to meeting all of you! Please feel free to contact me by email at email@example.com or stop by my office on the first floor in South Residence Hall!
The instructors were knowledgeable and welcomed class discussions, with
respect for each student's contribution. I've learned how to be a more
effective leader. My capstone class gave insight on how to combine all
the education learned to operate a business. That's when I realized how
much I had sharpened my knowledge.
