About Dr. Robert Sanborn:

Dr. Sanborn is new to Medaille but not to teaching. He began at Medaille in the fall on 2012. A native of Western New York, Dr. Sanborn went to Johns Hopkins for his BA, worked for four years in a CPA firm in Buffalo, and then went to Boston University for his MBA and the University of Georgia for his PhD. He taught at the University of Virginia and the University of Richmond for 28 years. Retiring early from UR, Dr. Sanborn moved back home, and Medaille was kind enough to employ him after he missed teaching.

Dr. Sanborn loves teaching financial accounting at all levels. His ‘mission’ is to help students understand that accounting is NOT a mystery and that everyone needs to understand the basics of the language of business. For advanced students in the major, Dr. Sanborn strives to help them gain the skills needed to to pass the CPA exam and become versatile business professionals. He also teaches other areas of accounting and finance and enjoys making those courses easier to understand.

Outside the college, Dr. Sanborn works as an equity analyst in his wife’s financial advisory firm, Collins Advisors, LLC. He also enjoys kayaking and travel.

Ph.D., University of Georgia
