Academic Program
Medaille College's Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) educates and trains students for careers as licensed psychologists. The courses and clinical experience help students develop the knowledge and skills essential to providing psychological assessment, psychotherapy, supervision, consultation, program development, and clinical leadership. The program follows the Practitioner-Scholar Model of the National Council of Schools and Programs in Professional Psychology and meets the requirements for licensure in New York.
The PsyD Program requires the successful completion of 99 semester credit hours:
- Core courses (69 credit hours)
- Electives (15 credit hours)
- 1000 hours of supervised experience (12 credit hours)
- Clinical Dissertation (3 credit hours)
In addition, students must successfully complete:
- The Clinical Competence Examination
- A one-year Pre-Doctoral Internship
