Master of Science in Education (MSEd): Elementary Education Grades 1-6 (Primary/Junior)

Do you have a bachelor's degree in a field other than education? Are you ready to become the teacher you've always wanted to be?

The accelerated-format Master of Science degree in Education at Medaille College allows you to earn a master's degree, qualifying you to apply for a teaching certificate in New York State. For Canadian students,  this program qualifies you to apply for teacher certification in Ontario as well as the State of New York.

At Medaille, you will learn from mentor-teachers, many who bring years of teaching and administrative experience into the classroom. Medaille's teachers will work closely with you so you graduate with the skills necessary to become a highly effective and creative teacher of students with diverse backgrounds.

Elementary Education Master's Degree Highlights

  • Study in small classes with experienced teachers who will share years of classroom insights and methods with you.

  • Complete your student teaching in an approved elementary/primary school.
  • Satisfy the requirements necessary to apply for certification in New York State and Ontario.
  • Extend your Childhood Certification (Grades 1 - 6) from Birth-Grade 6 by taking EDL 581 at Medaille.

Duration: The Master of Education: Elementary Education is a 42-credit, one-year program program offered in two flexible formats: two weekdays a week or every other weekend. The program takes 16 months to complete. Classes are taught at Medaille College's Buffalo, New York campus.

Careers of Master of Science in Education: Elementary Education Graduates

According to recent data, approximately 79% of Medaille Master's in Elementary Education graduates were employed in education or continuing their studies.
