The Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Medaille College is a satisfying and highly specialized program that prepares you to work with people who are struggling in their relationships. Addressing problems associated with modern marriage and family life-job loss, substance abuse, mental illness and other issues-you will learn to assist individuals, couples and families in the context of their marriages and family systems, function in more productive ways.
Medaille's is the first and only MFT program offered in the Buffalo/Niagara, region.
Medaille College's MFT program takes an applied approach; as you delve into your theoretical study of research-based practices, you will gain practical strategies from our teacher-practitioner faculty, who augment their teaching with insights gleaned from a lifetime of practice.
The Marriage and Family Therapy degree allows you to apply for a New York state limited permit, so you can go on to fulfill the required hours of supervised therapy practice, and when eligible, take the national Marriage and Family Therapy licensure exam.
Duration: The Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy is a 48-credit, two-and-a-half-year program offered one weekend a month at Medaille College's Amherst, New York campus.
