About Shana Richardson
I am a proud Buffalo, NY native, born and raised! I am passionate about supporting students and helping them write their own success stories! Prior to coming to Medaille full time, I worked at Canisius College in HEOP as a Coordinator for Academic Support Services. I am very excited to serve as Director for Medaille's newly awarded HEOP grant! I have three wonderful, crazy kids: Micah, age 8, and Zoey and Zaryah, twins, age 4. I have been with my amazing husband, Marques, for 19 years (!!!) and married for 8 years.
My Values and How They Inform My Career
I believe in educational equity, and feel particularly called to support students of color and other marginalized identities at Predominately white institutions. I feel strongly about changing the narrative from a deficit framework to an asset based one, so students focus more on what they bring to the table rather than perceived deficits.
One Thing Most People Don't Know About Me
I am a HUGE fan of horror movies and vampire fiction :)
Something I'm Passionate About
Equity and access for all students!
A Lesson I Learned as a College Student
Time management and communicating with your professors are both vital to success!
Advice I Wish to Pass on to Medaille Students
You are capable. You are worthy. Write your own story; don't let anyone else do it for you!
