Veterinary Technology Department Mission Statement

The Veterinary Technology Program of Medaille College is dedicated to preparing professional veterinary technicians to provide medical care for the health and welfare of animals, to alleviate animal suffering and to promote public health with a commitment to further Veterinary Technician knowledge and competence through life-long learning.

Veterinary Technology (AAS)

A career in the field of Veterinary Technology may involve meeting certain licensing, certifications, training or other requirements that can vary by state. Medaille College has not identified the educational prerequisites for such licenses/certifications and has not determined whether our programs will satisfy these requirements. Additionally, Medaille College makes no representations regarding whether a particular program will qualify a graduate for employment in any specific position. Applicants are responsible for checking with the licensing agency in their state for specific requirements as well as investigating the expectations for any agency or employer with which they may wish to seek employment.

Medaille College has not made a determination of the prerequisites for licensure or certification for individual states or countries. Before enrolling in an academic program, check with your state education department for specific requirements.

All applicants to the Veterinary Technology programs should be aware that employers may consider numerous factors when determining eligibility or suitability for employment including, but not limited to: criminal background screening, U.S. citizenship, state residency, physical and psychological health, age and military discharge information. Similarly, employers in the industry may require drug screens as a condition to employment and/or continued employment. A criminal conviction and/or record of certain other conduct may prevent or hinder a graduate’s employment in the field. The enrolling applicant has been apprised of these matters and enrolls in this program with full understanding of the same.
