Admissions Requirements

  1. Medaille College Online Application (no fee to apply)

  2. Official high school transcripts. If your transcripts are not in English, they must be translated into English by a recognized agency. We accept any service that is a member of NACES (
  3. Official college transcripts (if applicable), translated into English by a recognized agency.
  4. Official SAT/ACT Scores (only if English is your native language; SAT code=2422 ACT code=2822)

  5. English language proficiency test (only if English is not your native language); the minimum acceptable scores are as follows:

*Students complete their application by sending transcripts by email but will need to send official transcripts by mail if they enroll in the college.

Once your application is complete, the Admissions Office will notify you by email of the decision. If you are accepted for admission, you should plan to submit your enrollment deposit as soon as possible.

Please note that your I-20 will not be issued until all admissions and I-20 requirements are met including submission of your financial documentation and proof of health insurance and immunization information is received.

Student Visa Information Page

Apply and be accepted by June 1 for a September (Fall) start or November 1 for a January (Spring) start. Adhering to these timelines will ensure that you have time to be officially admitted to Medaille and that you have sufficient time to complete the Visa process.  

To obtain a Certificate of Eligibility, all students must:

  • Apply and be accepted to Medaille College by July 1
  • Complete and sign the I-20/DS-2019 (for exchange students only).
  • Submit the deposit for tuition/fees and room/board ($200 US total).
    • Students attending through one of our international exchange programs need only submit a room/board deposit of $100US.
  • Provide financial documentation that shows sufficient funds to cover the cost of ONE YEAR of your education (tuition, fees, room, and board). Acceptable documents include:
    • Official bank statement(s) (must be within 30 days of applying for Certificate of Eligibility).
    • Signed bank letter stating sufficient funds.
    • Copy of a loan approval letter.
    • Approval of additional aid or scholarship awards.  Financial support documentation from anyone other than the student (such as family member(s), agency(ies), organization(s), must be accompanied by a signed letter from the funding source stating their name, relationship to the student, and consent to support the student. 
  • Complete and submit Health Insurance and Immunization Information.

**Please note:

  • Exchange students are responsible for Room & Board charges ONLY.
  • All international students under the age of 21 are required to live on campus for the first year, except Canadian students that are within a commutable distance from Medaille College.

Do I need a visa to study at Medaille College?


Citizens of Canada do NOT need to obtain a Student Visa to study in the United States. Canadian citizens can be issued anI-94, which will allow them to enter/study in the U.S. They will be required to have the following documentation in order to approve the issuance of the I-94:

  • Proof of identity and citizenship (a Canadian passport for example).
  • The original I-20 (or DS-2019) certificate.
  • Proof that you have paid your SEVIS fee.
  • Proof that you have the funds to pay for the school that you plan to attend.


All non-Canadian international students are required to obtain a student visa in order to study in the United States. To apply for Student Visa, you must do the following after obtaining your I-20/DS-2019:

  • Submit form I-901 and pay the SEVIS fee here:
  • Upon completing your payment, you must print a receipt, which you will need to bring to your visa interview. Receipts will no longer be mailed by SEVP.
  • Contact your local U.S. Consulate or Embassy to schedule an interview for a student visa*.

    • This step can take several weeks to complete so plan accordingly.

Scholarship Support for International Students

Medaille supports students from throughout the globe through merit scholarship awards.

Merit Scholarships:

International students who submit either one of the English language proficiency tests accepted by Medaille College or SAT/ACT scores will be considered for merit-based scholarships. The merit scholarships are awarded during the admissions process. These scholarships range from $14,000 - $22,000 USD per academic year and are renewable for a maximum of 8 academic semesters.
Additional scholarships of up to $4,000 USD per year may be available and will be determined by the International Admissions Counselor upon acceptance.
