About Barbara Glondys:

Barbara A. Glondys, MA, RHIA, CHPS, has worked in the field of health information management for over 35 years. After earning her B.S. degree from Daemen College and her RHIA credential from AHIMA, she managed patient record and health information services in both acute and ambulatory care facilities in Chicago and Washington, D.C. Her career has included work in healthcare consulting, sales, cost management and both classroom and distance education. She is dedicated to her profession and currently serves the 100,000+ professional members of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) in Chicago as Director of HIM Practice Excellence. There she answers practice questions from the membership and write and reviews professional resources. Her experience in HIM education includes 17 years as adjunct faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is currently a visiting associate professor in the Health Information Management baccalaureate program at Medaille College.
