About Tanisha Joshi:

Dr. Tanisha Joshi joined the full time faculty at Medaille College as a Clinical Assistant Professor in July, 2017. She served as the Director of Clinical Training in the PsyD Program in Clinical Psychology from July 2017-2018. In addition to being the Admissions Coordinator for the PsyD program in Clinical Psychology, Dr. Joshi also serves as a member of the IRB and the Faculty Development committees at Medaille College.
Dr. Joshi received her B.A. and M.A. from Pune University, in India, and obtained her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She has completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Johns Hopkins University Counseling Center in Baltimore, MD and a postdoctoral fellowship in Psycho-Oncology at the Colorado Blood Cancer Institute in Denver, Colorado. 

Prior to joining the faculty at Medaille, Dr. Joshi served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology-Oncology at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Center, where she worked on an interdisciplinary team of providers with patients and caregivers undergoing blood cancer treatment and bone marrow transplants (BMT). During this time she was the coordinator of the psychology practicum program within the division, served as the direct supervisor for doctoral practicum students on the BMT unit, and also served as member of the training committee for the APA accredited pre-doctoral internship at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine.

Dr. Joshi’s teaching and clinical interests include psychodynamic psychotherapy, assessment and treatment of diverse populations, health psychology with a focus on psycho-oncology, grief and loss issues, clinical interviewing, case conceptualization and clinical supervision. Her research interests include qualitative research, provider oriented research, end of life issues in cancer care, team dynamics in inter-professional teams, psychodynamic therapy in practice and diversity issues in treatment. Dr. Joshi is a member of the American Psychological Association, Psychological Association of Western New York, National Council of Schools of Professional Psychology and American Psychosocial Oncology Society. She is licensed as a psychologist in New York and Colorado and maintains a private practice in Amherst, NY.
