The Food-Mood Connection: Can What We Eat Really Influence Our Mental Health?
Dr. Helena Boersma, faculty member and Program Director of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Medaille College will be presenting "The Food-Mood Connection: Can What We Eat Really Influence Our Mental Health?"
Dr. Helena Boersma has a combined doctorate in mental health counseling with a certification in integrative nutrition and master's degree in exercise physiology to address relationships with food and eating patterns. For over a decade, Dr. Boersma has focused specifically on eating disorders and disordered eating patterns, in a variety of treatment environments and with all ages. She has developed a program that offers a unique perspective to building healthy relationships with food and behavioral choices. She works with clients to change beliefs and patterns around food and behavior, shaping their abilities to experience real and lasting results. Clients develop a deeper understanding of the impact food has on their bodies, moods and wellbeing.
