First-Gen Payback Scholarship

Your parents or guardians have worked hard to support you in your collegiate endeavors, and we want them to have the same chance at success that they made sure you had. Medaille College’s new First-Gen Payback Scholarship is available to parents and guardians of Medaille graduates who didn’t have the opportunity to earn their own college degree at no cost other than books, course materials and a one-time $100 fee.

Guidelines for Applicants

  1. Your parent or guardian can’t already have a college degree

  2. The First-Gen Payback Scholarship is available to undergraduate two- and four-year degree applicants who claimed the Medaille College graduate as a dependent for tax and financial aid purposes

  3. Scholarship awardees will be required to apply for financial aid

  4. Scholarship awardees are not allowed to take out any student loans

  5. Scholarship recipients will be responsible for a one-time $100 fee, and their books

  6. The scholarship is currently limited to parents and guardians of Medaille graduates who received their degrees on or after Jan. 1, 2014, and completed at least 60 credit hours at Medaille

*Robert Nesslin Scholarship

Awarded to an adult student seeking a bachelor's or master's degree who is currently enrolled in the Accelerated Learning Program. You will be required to submit a copy of your resume and a 250-500-word essay outlining what earning your degree will mean to you and why you should be chosen to receive this scholarship.


Alumni Scholarship

Awarded to a relative of a Medaille graduate demonstrating financial need and academic excellence.


Roger F. Bonenfant Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Roger Bonenfant, a faculty member in the Human Services Program from 1971 to 1988.  This Scholarship is awarded to a Junior or Senior based on need and academic standing.


Business Program Scholarship

Established to recognize a business major demonstrating financial need and academic excellence.


Jacqueline Downey Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to full-time undergraduate students, who are in their senior year, maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.


*Allen Lee Downing Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Allen Lee Downing, a 26 year old ALP student who left an indelible impression on those with whom he came in contact, this scholarship is awarded to students aspiring to become leaders in the business world, with a strong passion for and commitment to the service of others. ALP and Buffalo campus students are eligible to apply. You will be required to submit a 250-500-word essay explaining your short-term and long-term educational goals as well as your involvement in community activities. 


Garman Family Scholarship

Awarded to students pursuing degrees in Education, Child and Youth Services, and Health and Human Services.  The scholarship is based on academic ability and financial need and is given to students whose career focus is to help others.


Darlene Harding Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Darleen Harding, a Medaille College faculty member for ten years.  This award is given to students pursuing degrees that emphasize mathematics and science.


William Randolph Hearst Scholarship

Awarded to first generation college students.  The Hearst Foundation donated money to provide opportunities to help students achieve a college education.


*Margaret Kafka '90 Women Aspire Scholarship

Awarded to a female non-traditional age student with financial need for whom a college degree will be a life altering achievement. Women enrolled in the ALP program are eligible to apply. You will be required to submit a copy of your resume and a 250-500-word essay outlining what earning your degree will mean to you and why you should be chosen to receive this scholarship


Anna M. Kramer Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to an adult student (over 25) in a management related program with an interest in accounting, this scholarship is based on demonstrated financial need and academic merit.


Dr. Susan Bokman Leitzan Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to students pursuing degrees in Veterinary Technology who have outstanding academic records.


Medaille Endowment Scholarship

Established to ensure that high achieving students in need of financial aid received assistance as they worked toward their degree.


*Anna Illuzzi Palano Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of the founding President of the Medaille College Alumni Association Board of Directors and is awarded to continuing students based on financial need, scholastic ability, personal initiative, and participation in school and community activities. All Medaille College students are eligible to apply. You will be required to submit a 250-500-word essay outlining adversity that you overcame to get to where you are now. 


Palisano Foundation Scholarship

Awarded to ensure that higher education was accessible to students driven to succeed who may not, on their own, have the financial capacity.


*Heidi A. Raphael '85 Communication Scholarship

Awarded annually to an outstanding student currently participating in the Communication Program at the Buffalo campus. You will be required to submit a letter of recommendation and a 250-500-word essay outlining what your career goals are and why you are interested in pursuing a career in communications. 


Mike Roszman Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a student who demonstrates talent in radio broadcasting or journalism who is actively involved in college and community events.


Joseph P. and Isabella Runfola Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a student with a working-class background who is studying in a major that will help others.  Financial need is considered.


Joseph E. Savarese Sr. Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Dr. Joe Savarese's father, Mr. Savarese Sr. who was a career law enforcement professional with the NYPD and later a Public Elementary School Teacher (NYC) for special students in New York City. The scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in Veterinary Technology who demonstrates academic excellence and financial need.


Sisters of St. Joseph Scholarship

Financial need.


Kevin I. and Virginia D. Sullivan Scholarship

Awarded annually to an entering transfer student whose previous academic record promises success at Medaille and who has demonstrated leadership potential through prior activities in college or in the community.


Stanley P. Szymanski Memorial Scholarship

Established to ensure that students of Polish descent in need of financial aid received assistance.


Student Aid Fund Scholarship

Awarded to students demonstrating financial need and academic excellence.


Student Government Association Scholarship

Awarded to a student who is active in clubs on campus. Must be a junior or senior.


Phyllis S. Ware Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to Education majors in their junior year.  Students must demonstrate academic excellence.


Dr. Philip Weber Scholarship

Named in honor of Dr. Weber who was co-owner of the Brighton-Eggert Animal Clinic. This scholarship is awarded to second year Veterinary Technology students who are in good academic standing.


Joseph Petronella Scholarship Fund

Awarded to a junior or senior criminal justice major and is based on academic achievement.


Arther Allen Memorial Scholarship

Financial need


George H. Hyde Excellence in Business

MBA or MAOL student with 3 or more courses completed, demonstrated financial need, GPA of 3.5 or higher, community service, experience in field, complete essay.   Essay required.


Marge Kafka and Merchants Insurance Scholarship

Financial need, Undergrad Psychology student interesting in pursuing Mental Health Counseling, GPA 2.8 or higher.  Essay required.

Marcia and George Hillock Scholarship

Education student with financial need, upper classman, 3.0 GPA or better,  Buffalo campus, local student, female.  Award can follow student if he/she remains in good standing

Scott and Carol McFarland Scholarship

Demonstrated financial need; GPA 3.0 or greater, awards follows students if they remain in good academic standing.  Essay required.

Joyce & Stuart Angert Scholarship 

Demonstrated financial need, GPA of 3.0 or higher, preference to Business or Psychology major. Upper classmen. Essay required.

Susan Beeler

Education major, Upper Classman, GPA of 2.8 or greater, Financial need, Volunteers at Medaille, Essay required.

Livingston International

Homeland Security major, undergraduate; community and/or co-curricular activities; Possess leadership skills; GPA of 3.0 or higher; financial need may be considered.

The McShane LLC Scholarship

Honorable discharged US Veteran; GPA of 3.0 or higher; demonstrated financial need; primary consideration for undergraduate student, essay required.

Azanian Freedom Grant

GPA of 2.5 or better, financial need, minority students, demonstrated potential.

$1000 KF&B Law Academic Scholarship

Eligibility:
High school seniors who have already been accepted into a college or university.
Current college students who haven’t reached their final year.
International students that have been accepted into a US college or university.
 
Guidelines:
KF&B wants to hear your answer to the following question in the form of a 500-word essay:
 
“Who is your greatest role model?"
 
Submission Deadline:
The deadline for submissions is May 1st, 2020.
 
Winner Selection:
The KF&B scholarship committee will select a winner once the submission deadline approaches. The winner will be contacted no later than the first week of June 2020. The winner will have two weeks to respond to confirm their information or a new winner will be selected. Once a winner’s information has been confirmed KF&B will award $1000 to the student’s financial aid department at their school.
