About Mary Beth Scumaci
Mary Beth Scumaci is the Director of the Office of Online Learning. As the lead facilitator of the E-Learning Team, she collaborates with Instructional Technology and the Medaille community to define online learning needs for the Buffalo, Rochester, and Online campuses. She is a Blackboard Administrator, Instructional Designer, and Blackboard Certified Trainer assisting faculty with their online course design and learning management needs. Scumaci holds certificates in Instructional Design and Delivery from the Online Leaning Consortium.
She develops online training courses for students and faculty as well as leads training sessions in online pedagogy, best teaching practices and skill development for teaching and learning online in Blackboard. Mary Beth has been working at Medaille since 2004, when she designed the first two online classes at Medaille College. She is the Chair of the Online Advisory Board and served on the committee that developed the business model that brought online programs to Medaille College. Her previous roles at Medaille include serving as the Associate Dean for Educational Technology, Associate Professor of the Practice with the Department of Education, Technology Coordinator for the Department of Education, Academic Program Director for the MSED Elementary Education Program and as a member of the Teacher Education Accreditation Council and Middle States accreditation teams.
Scumaci holds a B.S.Ed. and M.S.Ed. from the State University College at Geneseo. She is a New York State permanently-certified educator from Birth–grade 6, holds an endorsement in Early Childhood Education, a minor in psychology and a specialization in advanced teaching in math and science.
