Kaz Abidi is a Medaille College Master of Business Administration (MBA) alumni and Senior Recruitment Leader at Amazon Web Services (AWS). Kaz completed his undergraduate studies at SUNY Buffalo and currently resides in Buffalo, NY, with his wife and daughter. Kaz brings almost 10 years of talent acquisition experience to our session, specializing in technology recruitment. When he is not working at AWS, you can find him traveling, spending time with his family, and growing his other business ventures and investments. He currently owns a medical spa in Williamsville, NY with his wife, specialized in medical esthetics. Learn more about the spa on Instagram @beautybymisbi.
Amanda Best received her bachelor's degree in business administration marketing, with a minor in entrepreneurship, in May 2016. In May 2021, she received her master's degree in organizational leadership at Medaille College. Post-graduate studies, the MAOL program inspired Amanda to press forward and obtain two additional professional certificates: Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt and Scrum Master. While at Daemen College, she worked in various offices as a student work assistant, including: Enrollment Management-Marketing, Orientation & Leadership, Academic Affairs and Office of the President. Amanda has always had an affinity and heart for the people. These various job positions enabled Amanda to discover and refine a plethora of soft skills to foster a successful career. The additional skills garnered from the MAOL program solidified and propelled Amanda to stand out as a best-in-class candidate for current and future employers.
In 2016, Amanda started her career in corporate America at Highmark Western and Northeastern New York as a Provider Service Representative. Two years into her tenure, Amanda transitioned into the Human Resources department as a learning specialist in the Talent Development unit. She’s had the opportunity to play an intricate role in various relationship building and management initiatives and job performance improvement programs, ositively impacting others in their career journey. Nine months post-MAOL graduation, Amanda transitioned from healthcare into the IT world, serving as a supervisor in the Solutions Design & Services department at Ingram Micro. Amanda’s passion for fashion, along with thriving in corporate America, has allowed her to successfully merge the two, in which she is often known as the “Corporate Diva.” She uses her niche to inspire and encourage people to always be, feel, and look their best. One of Amanda’s mottos is, “when you look good, you feel and do good!”
When Amanda is not in the office, she is actively engaged in her second career in real estate, as a licensed NYS Real Estate Salesperson under WNY Metro Roberts Realty. Some fond hobbies and extra curricular activities include traveling, cooking, shopping, quality time with loved ones, singing, sporadic adventures and creative writing, which includes words of wisdom and parables to inspire and encourages others.
Amanda owes her successes, thus far, to God and her God-given gift of outreach, charisma, optimism, enterprise, innovation, relationship building, motivating others to achieve their goals, and hospitality, creating an environment where people feel welcomed and loved. Amanda lives by taking the lemons life throws at her, and making anything that she wants out of them!
Mr. Shannon LaMar Johnson is a dual graduate of Medaille College, receiving his bachelor's and MBA. Shannon is Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager at M&T Bank, as well as adjunct professor at SUNY Erie, in the Business Department. Shannon is currently a partner with Medaille's Upward Bound program, teaching and mentoring enrolled high school students. Shannon also serves on the Medaille Alumni Board and as the Corporate Relations Chair for the National Black MBA Association, Inc. WNY Chapter. Shannon Johnson has always been an active community member and constantly looks for opportunities to give back and positively impact the lives of people around him.
Brooke McMillan is a passionate Learning & Development professional based out of Buffalo, NY. She currently works as a Learning Designer for Curbell Inc., where she is responsible for creating and managing curricula through technology-driven solutions. Previously, Brooke spent seven years at BlueCross BlueShield of WNY (now Highmark), primarily working in talent development for operations. Brooke has a dynamic background with expertise in facilitation, instructional design, eLearning development, and change management. She also has her Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification.
Brooke holds a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology from Medaille College, where she was a member of the True Blue & Gold Leadership Program. After finding her passion in learning & development, she pursued her Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership at Medaille College, graduating in May 2021 as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
In November 2021, Brooke joined the Association of Talent Development (ATD) Buffalo Niagara board of directors as VP of Communications, where she is responsible for developing and executing the chapter’s communication strategy. Brooke also volunteers with Junior Achievement of WNY, facilitating economic empowerment curriculums for elementary aged students in the Buffalo – Niagara Falls area.
Outside of work, Brooke loves exploring WNY by hiking, kayaking, and skiing. She is a member of the Buffalo Geological Society and a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan.
